Working at Piglet as a student
Just under 40% of the team at Piglet work part time; whether that's alongside studying, parenting or other commitments, we're committed to supporting everyone to find the right balance for their lifestyle. We checked in with Emily from our Newcastle concession to find out what a day in her life as a student looks like.
As a University Student, having a part time job not only allows me to support myself financially throughout my studies but it also enables me to gain valuable experience and transferrable skills that will benefit me in the long run, such as working as part of a team. The flexibility of my role as a Sales Assistant in one of our concessions fits around my studies whilst also letting me take a breather away from any University work. Being able to surround myself with beautiful bedding and homeware and help our customers get their perfect bedding set is quite a relaxing and enjoyable experience! The team in our concession are not only colleagues but incredible friends and working with them during the week always brightens up my day. Here is usually what I get up to on a Wednesday at Piglet!
6am- Wake up and check our teams and WhatsApp chats for any updates on sales or handover notes.
9am- Grab a coffee and head to my first lecture and then a seminar.
12am- Have some lunch (usually avocado on toast or a porridge bowl!)
3pm- Start my shift in our concession.
3-7pm- Tidy the floor, change our gorgeous beds, help customers with any questions, check our Teams’ chats, discuss the weeks happenings with my colleague, research any upcoming releases from Piglet HQ and restock the shelves!
7pm- Grab a burrito on the way home.
10:30pm – Sleeeeppppp
Thinking of joining us? We're happy to discuss flexibility in all of our roles - whatever that might look like for you!
