A day behind the scenes on a photoshoot
We recently asked some of our retail team if they'd be kind enough to come along and help out on one of our shoot days. Maddie from our Norwich concession had such a great time, she wrote up a blog about her day.
As soon as you arrive at the location it’s full steam ahead (literally). Once everything is brought in from the van, it is time to start steaming and ironing all the lovely pieces being photographed in the designated and soon-to-be-very-humid “steam room”. Making sure to check the very handy lists of the looks, what they consisted of, and when to have them ready.
Once steamed, we place the bedding in the room ready for when it’s needed or make the next bed (my favourite part) ready for the stylist. The stylist's work really stood out to me, watching them add their props and work their messy bed magic. I made sure to take notes on how to make the perfectly messy bed to use when styling our one in Jarrolds.
As we had steamed (and ironed) ahead of schedule, we got the chance to watch the team work. Observing them ensure each shot worked for its final purpose and captured the product the way it was needed, getting close-ups and different orientations for lots of variations. The beds get their moment, then it's bedding-off, back in the box, and, you guessed it, more steaming! It was amazing to learn how much work goes into taking the beautiful pictures we see and, of course, get a sneak peek at the new products!
My top tips for future photoshoot helpers: Get stuck in! Soak up the photo-making fun, and don those comfy clothes – it's a busy day!
