The Head of Merchandising will be responsible for ensuring Piglet in Bed fulfils exciting growth plans through accurate forecasting of the existing continuity ranges, whilst identifying and strategically planning opportunities for incremental sales and profit. Joining at a crucial stage of Piglet in Beds growth journey, the Head of Merchandising will support development the Merchandising team to embed best practice and enable solid foundations for continued growth.
What you'll be getting up to
Merchandising Strategy:
- Develop Seasonal Strategies for the Merchandising department, working hand-in-hand with the Head of Buying and Design Manager to deliver seasonal ranges on-time which fulfil the companies financial aspirations
- Build ranges and financial plans across Piglet in Bed, ensuring you cater for all channels, countries and future opportunities
- Trade the business with the Head of Buying and suppliers to handle risks and opportunities effectively
- Ensure optimal stock levels to minimise overstocking, balancing profitability and customer satisfaction
- Develop and lead effective channel strategies, including range assortments for Stores, Partners and Wholesale
- Collaborate on budget plans and reforecasts with senior stakeholders
Supplier Management:
- Establish solid relationships with key existing and future suppliers, supporting the broader sourcing strategies and develop key initiatives to optimise availability, agility and margin.
- Lead and embed critical path management across the product teams to ensure product is delivered on time in order to hit sales budgets
Team Management:
- Develop and lead a strong team, giving the opportunity for them to be their best and establish best practice processes
- Lead, mentor and develop the merchandising team to achieve departmental and individual goal
- Work hand in hand with the operations and warehouse teams to forecast goods inbound and outbound
Data & Analysis:
- Lead the weekly trade meeting, and prepare reporting on key trade and product metrics
- Prepare WSSI on a weekly basis, and share insights with the senior management team
- Develop an in depth understanding of Piglet’s product roadmap, and provide insights based on your analytical knowledge of PiB’s product range (e.g. size curves, colour performance, supplier concentration, etc.)
- Own trading data in Datitude, ensuring that all information is accurate and can be used by the wider business
Who we're looking for
- Already established/experienced at Head of Merchandising level or Senior Merchandising Manager ready for the next step
- Experience in managing a mix of continuity products whilst understanding the different management required to bring new products and seasonal products to market.
- Homeware experience preferable but not essential
- Leading and developing teams: imbedding new processes and establishing best practice
- A willingness to get into the detail as required, but able to step back and let a developing team shine. Strong at coaching and managing people.
- Competent and experienced in core merchandising skills, including WSSI management, forecasting and setting budget frameworks.
- Data analysis and numeracy skills a given, as well as being confident in presenting figures to internal and external audiences.
Hours & Location: This is a full time role, 5 days a week with 3 days based in our London office.
