Assistant Designer
About Us
At Piglet in Bed, we’re building a joyful and thoughtful home, one product at a time. From natural linen bedding to timeless tabletop and thoughtful homewares, we believe in creating beautiful, useful things that make people feel at home. As we expand our product offering, we’re looking for a creative and detail-oriented Assistant Designer to support the design team across our growing range.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing lifestyle brand and gain hands-on experience across the full design process. You’ll assist in developing seasonal ranges, preparing design packs, managing samples, and helping to bring new ideas to life - always with the customer and brand aesthetic in mind.
You’ll work closely with the Design Manager and collaborate with Buying, Merchandising, and Tech to help deliver beautiful, commercially successful products across categories.
Role: Assistant Designer
Hours: Full-time
Salary: £30,000
Location: Hybrid working - 2 days working at home per week, with 3 days in the office/out on design-inspiration visits
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Design Manager with development of seasonal product ranges across bedding, homewares, tabletop, and apparel launches.
- Create and update CADs, moodboards, and presentation documents to communicate seasonal direction and product concepts.
- Regularly liaise and communicate with our suppliers, keeping all comments, notes and correspondence between us up to date.
- Prepare and maintain accurate design packs, ensuring all design details are captured clearly for suppliers.
- Assist with print development, colour matching, and sample coordination - tracking comments and ensuring timelines are met.
- Help manage the product files, archive and materials library, ensuring up-to-date samples and fabric swatches are available for reference.
- Conduct competitor research and trend monitoring to support design decisions and keep the brand offering fresh and relevant.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Buying, Merchandising, and Marketing to support go-to-market activities and seasonal launches.
What We’re Looking For
- A degree or relevant experience in Textile, Product, or Fashion Design.
- Previous experience within a design role, ideally where you’ve had to communicate directly with suppliers and set up specs.
- Strong CAD and Adobe Creative Suite skills (Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Excellent attention to detail and a love of getting stuck into the process - from first sketch to final sample.
- Great communication skills – both around the business and externally.
- A strong sense of colour, proportion, and materials, with an eye for lifestyle aesthetics and commercial appeal.
- Organised, positive, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A proactive team player who’s eager to get stuck in – to learn and grow in a fast-paced creative environment.
